Geoff Chaplin

As many of you know, I left Northamptonshire to start a new venture with the Electra Hotel in Weymouth.

This went extremely well, we had visits from just about every station in the county.  We even had one watch that held their annual Christmas dinner there, two years running!

However, after building the trade up, I’m pleased to say that Pam and I were able to sell up a couple of years ago, and came to live here in Spain on the Costa del Sol.

We did not do anything at first, as we have a rather large plot of land, mainly with Avocados and Grapes.

Nevertheless, as time had gone on we were a little fed up with just pottering about and have started up an Estate agency.

So, if anyone is interested, or we can help at all, have a look at www.cjsproperty.com

It’s a nice relaxed lifestyle here, and considerably warmer for most of the time.

I do miss you all, but saying that I will probably bump into you again “Manyana”.   I hope so.

Many regards and PLEASE, Drive safely,

Geoff Chaplin

Ted Worley

This photograph is reproduced by kind permission of Mr. E. Worley.  Ted is shown damping down after the last of several fires at Dickenson’s Mill, Wellingborough, about 1961.  The cause of these fires was proved to be arson.

Ted was a Leading Fireman who served at Wellingborough and then at Daventry.  Whilst at Daventry he was instrumental in the preparation of the new Fire Station in Staverton Road.

During his Service Ted joined The Institute of Fire Engineers and gained the qualification of GIFireE, after his retirement he carried on with his membership.  Much to his pleasure The Institute of Fire Engineers have now bestowed the honour of making him a Graduate for life.

After leaving the Northamptonshire Service he was employed as the Chief Fire Officer for the Ford Motor Company until his retirement.

Since his retirement he has spent a leisurely time with his wife Doreen.
